Preston and YaoDan: 2017
Dani lost her wedding ring. Spring brought the tulips, which we had to go see, again. This year, it was windy, rainy and cold, but we couldn’t resist taking hundreds of photos. YaoYao came with us, too. Then we went shopping at Winners for a couple of hours, but at the end of the day, when we arrived home, Dani realized she was no longer wearing her ring. We searched Winners until after they had closed. Dani created a tool for sweeping under the shelves while YaoYao and I crawled around the displays. Eventually, we gave up. The following morning, however, I wondered if she had lost the ring looking at tulips. Alone, I drove to the field and feeling hopeless, I scanned the muddy ground. I distributed posters showing the ring and talking to people. Eventually, I gave up. Except for one last search in the parking lot. I recalled where our car had been parked and imagined Dani taking off her coat, the sleeves pulling off her ring . . . and there it was, lying in the gravel, shiny and unharmed. In addition, Norman finished school and convocated in June. We went to Kamloops -- Preston, Dani, YaoYao, and Wang Lian -- to witness the ceremony. YaoYao got into the fun by posing with ‘her degree’, intentionally held upside down. Very funny. YaoYao has been a highlight for us; it’s wonderful to have such a beautiful, helpful, funny and kind woman to brighten our lives.

YaoYao tries to blend-in with the pretty flowers and nearly succeeds!
We’re so proud of Siyao!
