Preston and YaoDan: 2018
Snowfall was fairly heavy this year, more than
our neighbors expect in a given year.
I had two houses to care for because Dani had
purchased a house on behalf of her family late
in the previous year. That house, halfway up
the mountain and on the north slope, received
a lot of snow and the ploughs left a meter-high
ridge of icy blocks for me to clear. It took three
visits to finally get everything cleared. Of
course, within a couple of weeks, everything
had melted anyway. So it goes.
Here I am clearing snow at our home in the
valley.
Dani and the family decided to sell that house;
the changes made to mortage qualification and
the slowing market made everyone worry that
selling would be difficult and little would be
gained.

For some reason, we were obsessed with trying
to photograph this moonrise. After nearly two
hours and dozens of attempts, we finally
succeeded. Then we promptly forgot about it.
